Unfortunately, we see it way too often. Making it even more depressing is the fact that it does not seem as though it will be going away anytime soon. Almost everywhere you turn recently, it’s there. Ferguson, MO, Brooklyn, NY, Dayton, OH, and the list goes on and on. Race. These stories originate from shootings involving the police. But, it all comes down to that one word that has haunted this country seemingly forever. I simply cannot stop thinking – IS RACE REALLY STILL A PROBLEM? The answer is obvious. However, the question is still HOW CAN IT BE?
The overly simplistic argument against racism – the one that says we are ALL human beings – is one that still has yet to be refuted. So, why is it that we simply cannot get beyond the racial tensions and overall refusal to accept people as…PEOPLE?
It’s time for us all to become STRONGER people. It’s time for all of us to become SMARTER people. It’s time for us all to build within ourselves foundations that do not allow for the senseless judging of people based on the color of their skin. It’s time for us to have foundations that are strong enough to allow us to understand that other PEOPLE may have different views, habits, or ways of thinking about issues. Simply put, it’s time for us all to start building and maintaining WINNING with CLASS foundations within ourselves that are bolstered by the key notion of RESPECT for all people and which allow us to be the best we can possibly be while still understanding that it is NOT solely about US and how we do things.
It starts with each of us – taking the responsibility to build the best foundation inside ourselves. Once the proper foundation is established, the responsibility is ours to continue to build and maintain it on a regular basis. Then, if we can help others build their foundations, it WILL spread. If it spreads, we CAN put this word – race – behind us as an issue. It’s going to be hard. Very hard. However, nowhere in this website will you see that Winning with Class is easy. We all need to focus on killing this issue. Our communities and our country as a whole depends on it.
How can YOU help?
